Tips for Hotel & Hospitality Resumes
Do you have a passion for meeting people from
all walks of life, even if limited to your local community? Do you enjoy
interacting with people, learning about their lives, their stories, their
adventures? Then maybe working in a hotel or at a great restaurant is the ideal
workplace for you.
If you want to make someone understand just
how much you enjoy this line of work, you need to express how much you
enjoy working with customers, either from a call center or in person at a
hotel's front desk, or in person in a service role such as a waitress.
You want to also show what the industries, services, and
systems you have exposure to and what the metrics are if you have that
information. For example, are you familiar with the Point of Sales computer
system at the checkout counter, otherwise known in the retail industry as POS?
Did you participate in achieving a record-breaking
customer service index level based on surveys, increase your call center
response rate, or manage a special initiative that resulted in your hotel becoming the number one ranked hotel in the region?
Be sure to show your knowledge of what their company and
industry does, and the environment, so you can mention in the resume than
you have those skill sets and experience. Be sure to include your
accomplishments in your resume.
